Tracing The Many Causes Of Headache

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Low_Jeremy] Low Jeremy In order to treat any type of headache, experts advise that you must know the possible causes first. Studies show that all types of headaches are usually chemical, emotional, or structural related problems. 1. Dental problems. One of the most common reasons of headaches is dental problem. Findings prove that if the teeth of a persons upper and lower jaw fail to meet properly, this can result to muscle tension that leads to headache. Another dental-related cause of headache is the grinding or clenching of the teeth at night or bruxism. Because of the strain caused by heavy chewing or grinding, certain bones and muscles in the jaw are greatly stimulated that triggers headache. What you can do is to increase your calcium and magnesium intake or use a plastic mouthpiece to reduce clenching and grinding. Aside from bruxism, another headache-related dental problem is known as temporomandibular disorder (TMD)a cycle of pain, muscle spasms, and joint imbalance that involves the jaw and the skull and results to interruption of bones, cartilage and muscle activity. You can ask your dentist to evaluate this situation and recommend treatment options to solve the problem. 2. Chemical sensitivities. Chemicals found in different gadgets such as computers are one of the major triggers of headaches such as migraine. Caffeine that is usually found in sodas, coffee, tea, chocolate, and some over the counter painkillers can also cause headaches. Try to eliminate all the sources of caffeine from your diet. 3. Magnesium deficiency. If a person suffers from magnesium deficiency, he/she may likely suffer from headaches compared to those who are not. In order to maintain enough magnesium supply, avoid too much mental stress, drinking lots of coffee, eating sugary foods, a high sodium, carbohydrate and calcium diet, alcohol intake, drinking sodas, cigarette smoking, diuretics, and taking in drugs of all types. 4. Infections and bacterial disease. Infections in the different areas of the body such as the nose, throat, and ear can cause major headache. Characterized by fever, nausea, muscle aches, chills, and diarrhea, Bacterial disease such as ehrlichiosis can be a major cause of headache. Make sure that you visit your physician to get proper treatment. 5. Muscle tension caused by stress and anxiety. Tensioned muscles usually cause headaches. What you can do is to veer away from things that can cause you stress and anxiety in order to avoid recurrent muscle tension. 6. Musculoskeletal system problems. Misalignments of a persons spine and neck can greatly affect his/her poor posture and muscle tension that lead to headache. Try chiropractic, osteopathy, and physiotherapy treatments to solve this problem. 7. Eye problems. Various eye problems greatly contribute to headache. Visit your optometrist or ophthalmologist is your eyes need glasses or contact lenses already. 8. Lack of sleep and bad sleeping habits. Without enough sleep, your body is always tired. Muscle tension can build up which leads to headaches. Try to get enough hours of sleep and make sure that you eliminate bad sleeping habits such as using too many pillow or pulling a blanket over your to avoid having a headache. 9. Menstruation. Fluctuations of females hormone levels can also cause a great deal of headache. You can ask your doctor for helpful vitamins and supplements to solve this cause. 10. Neurological problems. Although it is a rare cause of headache, ask neurologists to examine you for possible brain tumors. By conducting a series of tests such as CT or MRI, you can trace the possible cause of your recurrent headache.
Other causes include migraine, sinusitis, fevers, glaucoma, and neuralgia. Other serious causes of headache may include meningitis, sub-arachnoid haemorrhage, stroke, blood pressure, brain tumor, and temporal arteritis. Equal Partners in Marriage?

By Jack Wilson Marriage is a partnership. Is yours an equal one? All partnerships exist because each party brings something to the other that is needed and desirable. No partnership is exactly equal because the issues are so complicated that it is impossible to figure out their relative values. But the degree of respect each partner gives to the other can be pretty close to equal with a little care and love. There is almost always a division of labor. Some decisions will have more to do with the needs and interests of one partner than the other. Even then the decisions should not be to the disadvantage of the other. All decisions should be open to discussion and input of both partners on an equal basis so that neither partner is ever considered inferior or less important to the relationship. There should never be any bullying. This is especially true if one is the major breadwinner. That dont make you the boss. Some people are more clever at arguing than others. If one of you is such a person, you will need to exert extra care not to take advantage of your partner. Just because you can win does not mean you have the right to. Sometimes decisions involve moral issues, logical matters, cultural preferences, personal likes and dislikes. These are the hard ones to be fair about. These are the ones that lead to crazy fights that no one knows the cause of. Afterwards you both feel stupid, or at least you feel the other person is stupid. When you get involved in one of these irrational fights, it is a good idea to have a prearranged signal word. (My favorite is bananas). When one of you comes to her senses long enough to realize it is time to say the word, do it and it will take the air out of the balloon safely instead of having it pop in your face, and you can start fresh with a better perspective. Contracts and agreements may be symbols of mistrust, but you can make sure that you both understand that you wish to be equal partners and that your are both committed to working hard at it. If you have never taken assertiveness training, doing so, together, before you get married, is the best wedding present you could give yourselves. You will learn how to deal with each other fairly and not hurt each other while still taking care of your own selves. Jack Wilson is an artist and teacher. He has taught assertiveness training classes in Los Angeles and Phoenix.

Weight Loss Diary, Day 1

By David McCarthy Weight Loss Day by Day Diary: Day 1: Sunday February 5, 2006. In response to an email I received from a reader I have taken up her suggestion to share my next weight control program by publishing my weight loss diary in article form for everybody to follow. Ill start with a few personal details that will give you a guideline to make comparisons with your own progress. - My height is a fraction over 6 feet. (1.83m) - My current weight is 197 pounds (97.5 kilos) - My target weight is 180 pounds (89 kilos.) - My age is 65. - My physical condition is basically sound but I do suffer from osteo-arthritis in both ankles. The left is severe the right isnt much of a problem. I guess the reason for coming clean on those personal details is to make the point that age or physical condition is a factor. Younger, fitter people will find this easier. I have used this system to control my weight for close to thirty years now and it has never let me down. I use a very scientific measuring gauge known as a waistband. When it gets tight I need to lose some weight, when it goes slack I go back to my normal routine. Usually I only allow my weight to go over by 10 pounds (4.5 kilos) before taking action. This year it has soared due to a very busy January that flew past so quickly I barely noticed it leaving my Christmas weight gain to get worse. Now I have to lose 17 pounds (7.65 kilos) and that is what makes it more interesting and worth sharing the experience with you. You will notice from the above paragraph I have no doubt that I will lose it and this is an important part of the weight loss mindset. If this is the first time you have attempted this system you will have to complete the first few goals to prove that you can do it; after that you will have the same degree of confidence that I have. The first thing I must do is set goals. Adherence to and achievement of goals is the basic difference between winners and losers. Here I must be honest and tell you that 17 pounds seems like a mountain to me and I know that it will take me 17 weeks to successfully dispose of it. Hence I will not even look at losing 17 pounds as my initial goal. My goals are listed below: - At the end of week 1 I will have abided by my goal of dropping one item of food from my diet each day without cheating. I will lose one pound (450 grams) - By the end of week 2 I will have increased my walking/exercise periods from 10 minutes on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday to 12 minutes each session. I will have lost 2 pounds. - By the end of February I will exercise Monday, Wednesday and Saturday for 15 minutes each time. My weight will be 194 pounds (96 kilos) That is enough for now: I will update my goals as I go along. As you can see my weight loss goals are simple and within reach without too much effort. Why? Because we must all start training our minds to achieve our goals. If I set a goal to lose 10 pounds in one week and I only lose eight I will look upon myself as a loser and soon give up. To be of use goals must be achievable or they will soon cease to function for us. - I have entered my first three goals in my diary and tomorrow we start in earnest. You can follow this diary via RSS, your favorite article site or at my website in the news blogs section. This article is copyright David McCarthy 2006. About The Author

Foods that Help Relieve Hemorrhoids

By Rudy Silva A high fiber diet obtained from raw fruits and vegetables is what you need to follow for eliminating and for preventing constipation and is what you need to prevent and cure hemorrhoids. If you have not been eating a lot of fiber, you need to add fiber slowly to your diet especially if you add it by using bran. Increase your use of bran or other bran cereals over a couple of weeks. If you add fiber to your diet with fruits and vegetables, you can add them freely without much problem. However, since your stomach will not be use to it, you may experience more gas for a week or two. Here are some of the foods to start using. Juices Juices are good for hemorrhoids but especially dark berry juice mixed with equal parts of apple juice. The dark berry juices to use are, Cherries, blackberries, blueberries These berries contain "anthocyanins" and "proanthocyanidins" which reduce hemorrhoidal pain and swelling by toning and strengthening the hemorrhoidal veins. Drink at least one glass of this juice mixture each day. Red and Black Currant Berries Currants are high in Vitamin C, rutin, and minerals. This makes their juice valuable in clearing hemorrhoids. The also have a small amount of the fatty acid GLA, which produce prostaglandin that control body pain. Drink 1 -2 glasses a day of red or black currant berries. Iron foods Here are the foods that contain iron to help you build up your blood or to keep iron in reserve, if you ever need it. Chicken liver, steamed crab Kelp Prunes Dried apricots Sunflower seeds Pistachios Cashews, almonds, sesame seeds Baked potatoes Cooked Swiss chard Raisins Cooked broccoli Tuna Cantaloupe Cantaloupes are one of the best foods you can eat. It has a good source of vitamins and minerals. It has a high beta-carotene level and has anti-clogging properties. Ginger, Garlic, and Onion Add these three herbs to your diet. Each one of these helps to break down fibrin. Fibrin is a natural substance that helps to repair breaks in tissue, organs, and arteries. However, there are times that your body may over react and deposited too much fibrin causing inflammation in the arteries and especially in the hemorrhoid area. Oils At every meal, use olive oil, flax seed oil, and apple cider vinegar in your salad. In your soups, use olive and flax seed oil or other food dishes where they is appropriate. Or at the end of each meal take your capsule of fish oil. Fish oil is probably one of the most important oils to use daily. Go to my newsletter to read the article I wrote about this nutrient. Use the following foods to help reduce hemorrhoidal bleeding: Alfalfa Dark green leafy vegetables Blackstrap molasses Flax seeds - are high in omega-3 oils, which reduce inflammation and pain. They are also high in fiber. Lima and butter beans are high in iron, which help to build more blood. If you have bleeding hemorrhoids, adding lima beans to your diet would be a good choice. There you have it. Plenty of remedies that can give you temporary relief, reduce bleeding, reduce swelling, eliminate itching, and cure or prevent your hemorrhoids. Trade Show Goodies - Tantalizing Treats

By Patty Stripes Trade show goodies can be used by applying two distinct strategies. Massively giving out trade goodies works when you can buy them at really low prices, whereas targeting qualified leads comes when youre looking for more exclusive products. When you are settled on the trade show floor you can carefully analyze what will be your global strategy for giving out your branded merchandise. Dont limit yourself by just giving out cheap trade show goodies. But then again dont limit yourself to just getting a few leads with expensive items. Use both types of strategies so as to have the biggest exposure on the trade show floor. Giving away trade show goodies is easy when you focus on the masses. Low cost giveaways give you the advantage of being able to give out hundreds or maybe even thousands of branded products with your name on them. Items such as bags or magnets are excellent examples of what you can give away by using this strategy. By putting them in a place where trade show attendees can easily grab them, youve secured yourself a hit. Have someone to be in charge of making sure theres an ample supply of trade show goodies always available at your booth. Bu giving away cheap bags you can have people walking around showing off your logo, while they put all the other goodies in it. Then we have the expensive trade show goodies. USB drives, polo shirts, calculators and agendas are some examples. Probably you wouldnt want to give these out in a massive fashion. Because of their higher costs, you should pay more attention on who receives them. Only give them out to leads who really show an authentic interest in your products and services. Questions to Ask Your Lawyer

By Charles Kassotis When looking for a lawyer to handle a personal legal matter, you can usually find one by contacting the local bar association or an attorney referral service in your area. If those dont pan out, try the state bar association or word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied friends, family members, or coworkers. After getting the names of two or three attorneys that specialize in the area for which you need assistance, make an appointment to interview each lawyer before you decide which one to retain as legal counsel. Some lawyers offer a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your case and see whether client and attorney suit each other. Here are some questions you may want to ask: 1. How long have you specialized in this type of law? If the attorney has recently switched from probate to criminal law, and you are accused of committing a crime, you may want to look for a more experienced attorney. On the other hand, perhaps this attorney has been assisting a partner with criminal cases, or has done extensive work in this area previously. Find out if there is enough evidence to warrant your trust in this particular attorney for handling your case. 2. What are your fees? Never retain an attorney who is vague about the cost of his or her services, or about the type of expenses you may have to pay. While it is natural to be unsure of an exact price for copying, telephone, and postage costs, the attorney should be able to give you a ballpark figure, as well as any potential costs for expert testimony, including depositions, interrogatories, or videotaping sessions and travel fees. Try to get an estimate in writing of at least the attorneys fee. Many charge by the hour or by the procedure, such as a $1,500 divorce. Others are required to collect a portion, like one-third, of any awards made in personal injury cases, for example. 3. What are the chances of success for my case? This will apply to issues of litigation where you are suing someone in court. You want to get a percentage, like 60 percent or 20 percent, of what the outcome is likely to be. For other types of cases, such as estate planning, you can change the question to relate to matters involving your anticipated estate plan with applicable taxes. 4. How often can I expect to hear from you? A competent attorney should be in regular contact with a client to provide status updates, even if there isnt much to report. A monthly phone call, email, or letter will help to allay worries and confirm hearing dates so that you dont get disconnected from the legal process for months at a time. 5. What is the likely course of my case? Your attorney should be able to give you a clear outline of what to expect. Some types of cases might require a few meetings with the attorney. Others might demand court appearances and deposition sessions. Sketch a timeline of projected activity so you can plan accordingly. After comparing attorney responses to your questions, you may be in a better position to choose the attorney who will work most effectively to protect your interests. Conclave: Electing a New Pope

By Amanda Milewski Upon the death of the Pope, a monumental sequence of events unfolds, culminating in a process known as the conclave whereby a new Pope is elected to lead the Roman Catholic faith. Beneath Michelangelo's revered ceiling in the Sistine Chapel, the College of Cardinals, led by the Cardinal Camerlegno (Cardinal Chamberlain), Eduardo Martinez Somalo, begins the arduous process of selecting the pope's successor. The Cardinalate currently consists of 117 cardinals from all over the world. In the conclave, an event enduring little change since the thirteenth century, the cardinals take an oath of secrecy, that if broken renders the offender automatically excommunicated from the church. There are no televisions, radios, or newspapers allowed inside the conclave. The Cardinal Electors, almost all of whom were appointed by Pope John Paul II, will vote in a very thorough process of secret balloting where a two-thirds majority is needed to elect a new Pope. The College may vote up to four times a day, but if a new Pope has not been chosen by the third day, then the cardinals cease the voting process for a day of prayer and reflection. Following the day of prayer, the cardinals will commence for another seven votes, then another day of prayer. If after 12 days a pope has still not been elected, then the two-thirds majority vote is negated and a vote by simple majority is instated. The first indication to the outside world that a new pope has been elected is the telling smoke signals. After each voting session a smoke signal is given by burning the ballots. If the voting session is inconclusive, straw is added to the burning ballots to produce black smoke. Conversely, white smoke signals that a new pope has been chosen. In the past the College usually elects a cardinal that has been under consideration for some time. The two requirements for eligibility for the papacy are that the candidates must be a man and Catholic. Although any Catholic male is technically eligible, history shows that the candidates are always cardinals. What is new in this upcoming papal election is the doctrine of Vatican II, which no longer requires cardinals to study Latin. Therefore, the issue of a language barrier is a potential problem that the College may face, since many of the cardinals for the first time in history, will not share a common language. Pope John Paul II was elected in 1978 and has since been revered by Catholics as well as other Christian denominations, Jews, and Muslims for being a "Pope for the people." More than any of his predecessors, Pope John Paul II traveled the world, visiting and praying with the people of the area. Many attribute the restoration of the Catholic Church to Pope John Paul II. Much speculation has occurred regarding the Pope's successor. The outcome of the conclave is widely anticipated and only when we hear the Latin phrase "Habemus Papam" come from the dean of the cardinals will the world know who the next Pope will be.
