By Jeff King One of the most valued kinds of clocks on earth are grandfather clocks. Bulova grandfather clocks and Howard Miller grandfather clocks are some of the most sought after names in clocks and you can get your own antique grandfather clocks on the internet or from a wonderful antique store. There are also plenty of modern wholesale grandfather clocks for you to choose from on and offline. When you are shopping for grandfather clocks you will first need to see where in your home or business you want to keep said clocks. Did you want one that can fit on a shelf or do you have a special corner that you want to put one in? Take some time and some measurements and then you will be able to make the right decisions about the grandfather clocks that will look the best in your home or office. Grandfather clocks, especially pearl grandfather clocks, will add class and elegance to any home or office quickly and easily. Everyone will fall prey to the charms of your clocks in no time. German grandfather clocks are one of the most favorable of all grandfather clocks. They are known throughout the world for their beauty and accuracy. Many of the older grandfather clocks were not the most accurate clocks in the world but the more modern discount grandfather clocks will always keep good time. Some people are not really concerned with the fact that their grandfather clocks cannot tell time accurately. In fact, most people who buy Howard Miller grandfather clocks and Bulova grandfather clocks buy them not for the time aspect but for looks. Looks are important, it is a simple fact and your grandfather clocks will bring all kinds of joy and happiness to your home and dcor. Wholesale grandfather clocks are easy to find and purchase online. If you have always wanted to get some antique grandfather clocks or modern discount grandfather clocks you will be able to do that all online in just a few seconds. By doing a quick search online you can pull up tons of great stores where you can buy your grandfather clocks. It does not matter if you are looking for pearl grandfather clocks, German grandfather clocks, Bulova grandfather clocks, Howard Miller grandfather clocks, antique grandfather clocks or even discount grandfather clocks or wholesale grandfather clocks, you will find it all online. And when you are thinking about making a purchase as large and important as a grandfather clock it is vital that you save money where you can. Maintenance of grandfather clocks should never be too much of an issue. Everyone can simply call on a clocksmith to come in and fix anything that goes wrong with grandfather clocks. This should not cost too much money, but it will depend on what the actual problem is. Most of the good grandfather clocks will not need a lot of work, but like anything else in the world, parts do wear out over time and you may need to repair the odd piece from time to time. Toning, Light Weights, & High Reps for Weight Loss & Bodysculpting
By Craig Ballantyne I guess you could say it is my mission to show people the
value of intense strength training for fat loss. Every month more research comes out to support intense training
over slow cardio, and light weights. And each week, in real-life,
more and more men and women (yes, women too!) see the benefits of
pushing themselves with strength training. The evidence from research and real-life continues to pile up that
you need to put down those light weights and cut out those high
reps. Take really light weights, add in isolation exercises, and repeat
for a large number of reps. Do this for 3, 6, or 12 months, and
you're guaranteed to have the same physique you have today. This
approach just does not work. You need to step out of your comfort zone with strength training. Research has shown using a weight that enables only 8 reps per set
results in a greater post-exercise metabolism than using a weight
that allows 12 reps per set. And this was in women! So lifting
challenging weights is not just for men, but also for the ladies. Another research study showed that a 30-minute, hard total-body
strength training session can boost metabolism about 36 hours.
You just don't get that from slow cardio or light, "toning"
isolation exericses, I'm sorry to say. But what if you are worried about "bulking up"? Just do one or two
sets of 8 reps per exercise, rather than three or four. Bodybuilders know that high-volume training builds muscle. But if
you don't want massive amounts of muscle, just don't do a lot of
volume. That's just one of the reasons I don't use bodybuilder
workout programs for fat loss. Another way to avoid "bulking up" while still boosting your
metabolism is to use more bodyweight exercises. As for exercise choice, say goodbye to biceps curls, hamstring
curls, and triceps kickbacks. Seriously, I couldn't think of a more
useless exercise for a fat loss program than triceps kickbacks. Stick to full body movements. Use squats, lunges, split squats,
pushups, chinups, rows, etc. Remember, you don't have a lot of time to workout. So you can't be
doing bodybuilding splits from the 80's that call for three
exercises for the long head of the triceps, and two exercises for
each of the anterior, medial, and posterior deltoid. That's just not possible in the real-world. A pushup trains almost
all those muscles, and more. It works your abs, chest, triceps, and
shoulders. That's the type of exercise that is going to help you
get more fat loss results in less workout time. I train in the concept of a short time frame. That is, anyone that
wants to use my programs has less than 3 hours per week to devote
to structured exercise. So there just isn't much room for isolation
training in that time frame. But training should be fun too, and adding some curls as a reward
for completing a hard workout is fine, but only if you want to. You
don't need those types of exercises to get results. But remember, isolation exercises are not actually going to
burn fat, but they can build muscle and help you sculpt your body.
Here's the list of methods that lead to fat loss, in order of
importance: i) Nutrition
ii) Burning calories with interval training
iii) Burning calories due to an increased metabolism from interval
training and strength training (with multi-muscle movements) As long as you understand that nutrition is the most important
factor in fat loss, and that strength training is essential for
sculpting your body, than you will have realistic expectations of
success - based on how well you commit to each process. Sun Tanning Protects the Skin
By Grace Palce The major benefit of tanning for the human body is the strengthening of the bones. That is, the absorbed ultraviolet radiation activates substances in the skin the much needed vitamin D. And vitamin D is important in making the bones tough. There is, however, another documented benefit of tanning. Tanning helps the skin protect itself from further exposure to ultraviolet radiation. This was reported in the September 1999 issue of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. The report was authored by Dr. Barbare A. Gilchrest and Dr. Mark S. Eller. Both worked at the Department of Dermatology at the Boston University School of Medicine. The journal report stated five important points: 1. The UV radiation produces the protective melanin pigments. Why are melanin pigments considered protective? The melanin in the skin helps the body expel excess energy from further ultraviolet exposure. The excess energy can cause harm but, with the aid of melanin, this is removed from the body in the form of heat. The melanin can also deactivate the free radicals, which are infamous for their destructive action on the body. 2. Tanned skin prevents UVR injury. Related to above findings, the authors reported that a tanned skin is less prone to blisters and sunburn. Blisters and sunburns are UVR damages that a skin sustains when the skin can no longer tolerate the UV it receives. A tanned skin has a higher tolerance of UV rays. Thus, having a tanned skin is similar to wearing a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor of 3-5. 3. Tanning provides photo-protection. When a person undergoes the tanning process, the stratum corneum layer of his skin is considerably thickened. With this thicker layer, the skin becomes less sensitive to the ultraviolet radiation. Such is called photo-protection. A person with pale white skin may not attain the dark olive color that he desires but his stratum corneum has achieved a certain thickness that gives him photo-protection. 4. Tanning elevates the skins repair capacity. One of the greatest fears of people when they face tanning is the disease called skin cancer. But skin cancer only happens when a person abuses the tanning process. That is, he stays in the tanning bed longer than what is recommended by the manufacturer or the tanning salon professional. Skin cancer happens when too many damaged and abnormal cells are produced. With gradual and responsible tanning, the skins capacity to repair itself is actually enhanced. When the skin repairs itself, it gets rid off abnormal cells and fixes damage cells. 5. Both natural tan and acquired tan gives the same skin protection. All the above-described protection obtained from a tanned skin is not limited to a natural tan. An acquired tanned skin can also provide the same protection. Grace Palce is writing articles for her own site about tanning lotions and home tanning beds. Resign With Class: When Should You Resign From A Job?
By Carl Mueller When should you resign from a job? Certainly, when you get a new job and are currently employed by someone else, you need to figure out when to deliver the news to your boss that you have a new job and are resigning. Ive found that some people want to run out and resign right away as soon as they have a job offer even before they have actually received an offer in writing! Before you resign from your current employer, take some time to ensure that everything is in place with your new employer. Here are some tips regarding figuring out the timing of your resignation.
1. Dont think about resigning until you have actually received a job offer in writing. A job offer is not a job offer until you have an offer in writing. I would not think about resigning from my current employer until I had not only received the offer in my hand, but until Id also returned my signed copy to them and had my new employer confirm theyd received it. I always return the signed copy of the job offer to my new employer before thinking about resigning from my current employer. Ensure that the job offer contains everything you expected and then return the signed copy to your new employer before resigning from your current job. 2. Pay attention to the terms of your current employer. If you are required to give a certain amount of notice 2 or 3 weeks notice is fairly standard you want to ensure you provide them with the necessary notice. Quitting on the spot or only giving one week notice when you are required to give 3 weeks is the best way to burn your bridges with your current employer. Even though you are leaving them, you want to leave your employer on good terms in case you ever have the opportunity to return to them or in the case you need something from them ie. a reference.

Financing Your Small Business
By Eran Salu If it is at all possible, you should start your business without any funding beyond what you have available. Do this by starting slowly and in conjunction with present employment. Start your business by working evenings and weekends while keeping your present job as long as practicable. This way, if the business does not meet your expectations, you have not incurred debt and will still have a job! However, depending on the nature of the business outside funding may be necessary. For example, expensive equipment or initial stock may be required. When determining your financing needs, remember that nearly everyone underestimates what is required, so be careful and do your planning accordingly. And of course, don't forget to factor in contingency - sickness, bad weather, equipment breakdown, etc. Anything that increases the time line to profits! Best you figure on a year before you see a profit. Here are some items to keep in mind when preparing your startup budget: Office equipment (Fax machine, computer)
Production equipment (for manufacturing)
Office supplies
Legal and CPA fees
Insurance
Business licenses or permits
Lease deposits
Remodeling costs
Utility deposits (this can be quite large!)
Salaries
Shipping
Advertising and promotion
and the big one ... contingency! What you want to avoid is having to find additional financing during your startup phase. It is generally easier to obtain financing the first time around! There are two major forms of business financing. 1. DEBT FINANCING. This simply means you get a loan from someone or somewhere and go into debt! You are obligated to repay the money. 2. EQUITY FINANCING. This involves "selling" a portion of your company to an outside investor. You have no obligation to repay the funds. In general, this type of funding is provided by venture capital firms. The fact is, 99.99% of all small businesses will utilize debt financing since most "equity lenders" (venture capital companies) are interested in lending large amounts of money, generally a million dollars or more. This article will only consider sources for obtaining debt financing for your venture. SOURCES FOR DEBT FINANCING 1. YOURSELF! (Savings) You are your own best "lender" if you have the savings. This approach can be quick and easy. CAUTION: Ensure you have adequate savings for both the business and other life contingencies. 2. FRIENDS and RELATIVES. If they believe in you and your idea, friends and relatives are sometimes willing to fund you. Choose this route with care and ensure you execute a formal loan document stating loan terms (interest, terms of repayment). CAUTION: Many friends have been lost and many relatives alienated because of a small business failure. 3. BANKS and CREDIT UNIONS. Many banks and credit unions (check with your own first and with you local chamber of commerce for alternate possibilities) will loan money for starting a small business. This approach will require that you present a formal plan to the bank showing justification for the amount you are borrowing. 4. THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (SBA). Check out their website (http://www.sba.gov). Contrary to what many believe the SBA does NOT generally loan money directly but rather guarantees a loan (normally up to 90%). This can make it a lot easier to obtain a bank loan since the bank's risk is lowered considerably. The exception is that the SBA does provide direct loans to certain groups including Vietnam-era and disabled veterans and handicapped individuals. In general, the SBA will not offer any assistance until you have been turned down for a loan by a commercial bank. Most loans guaranteed through the SBA are between $25,000 and $750,000. However, there is a "microloan" program for amounts from a few hundred dollars up to $25,000. 5. VENDOR FINANCING. If your business is one that relies heavily on certain vendors, it may be possible to obtain financing through the vendor. After all, they want you to use their product and therefore have an interest in helping you be successful. 6. STATE. Some states have small business financing authorities that issue tax-exempt development bonds that can be used to finance land, buildings and equipment for manufacturing businesses. Check with your local government office for details. 7. HOME EQUITY LOAN. Interest rates for this kind of loan are generally quite low and the interest is fully deductible for the first $100,000 borrowed. CAUTION: You are placing your home on the line! 8. LIFE INSURANCE. Some types of life insurance policies (whole life and universal) have cash value which can be borrowed at very low interest rates. You are not obligated to pay this money back but if you don't, your policy payout is reduced by the amount borrowed. 9. RETIREMENT PLANS. Some retirement plans (401K for example) allow you to borrow against vested benefits. Generally, up to 50% may be borrowed as long as this is less than $50,000. CAUTION: If you quit your employment, the loan must be repaid immediately. If you don't the amount borrowed is treated as an early distribution and is taxable. 10. GRANTS. Many foundations provide funding in the form of grants. Check "The Foundation Directory" at your local library or visit their website at http://fdncenter.org to find out what foundations may have an interest in your specific business idea. The Foundation Center may be reached at (212) 620-4230. 11. CREDIT CARDS. These should be used with care because of the excessively high rates of interest usually charged. CAUTION. Remember that many of these loan ideas will require you to sign a personal guarantee. This means that regardless of what happens to your business, you are personally liable for the repayment of the loan amount. Think carefully before signing. http://www.TotalBusiness.com is a Website that provides business owners with the information they need in order to successfully start, manage, grow, and sell their businesses. Graduate Degree Programs
By Kathy Jones There are a number of online graduate degree programs that are available on the net. You can virtually get a graduate degree program in each and every discipline you wish to search. These anytime, anywhere courses cover topics from business and management education to film production and journalism. You can even get graduate degree programs for fields such as fashion designing. Many universities now offer online graduate degree programs as an extension to their regular degree programs. You can now earn a graduate degree sitting in home through the computer. All you need is Internet, which is not at all difficult to get. Some of the programs have the stamp of approval from the respective accrediting boards, which speaks for their quality. Some courses have direct accreditation from the universities. Many of these online graduate degree courses in technical categories also have accreditation from their professional associations. Accreditation is stamp of approval from the respective universities that the course has a current curriculum and the course provides high-caliber teaching. The course also provides for meaningful interaction between students and a qualified faculty. But in the vast array of online degree programs available, the task of choosing the right program for you may seem overwhelming. It involves a quite a lot of leg work on your part to choose the right degree program and then check its accreditation. There is no need to get disheartened. There is another solution also. There a number of resources on the net, which have done the ground, work of listing the online graduate degree programs in all the categories that the students are searching for. A proper scrutiny is done for the courses with respect to their accreditation, course content and the teaching methods. Only after the course meets the set criterion the course is selected for listing. To get admission to these online degree courses through distance education, you are required to meet the general admission requirements of the university as well as those specified by the individual degree program. After you get admission you'll retrieve lectures, questions and assignments from your instructor online and then review them offline at the times and places most convenient to you.
